Heifer Project is an organization that gives families around the world (128 countries) a renewable source of food rather than short-term relief.
By donating, a family will be given either a pig, a cow, a sheep, ducks, or other livestock, & they will also be trained on raising the livestock. Furthermore, the project asks the families to “pass on the gift” of their animals’ offspring to others around them, as well as their knowledge, resources, and skills, which will create “an expanding network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance.” It creates a renewable source of food, and further a sustainable community.
