Giving and Receiving Are the Same
Many of us have heard that it’s better to give than to receive, in attitudinal healing however, we understand that giving and receiving are the same.
Whenever you reach beyond yourself and your own challenges and concerns of the moment to give to another human being you are immediately rewarded. This reward may not come from that person themselves in the form of a thank you or even the return of a similar favor but rather from the feeling you get of knowing that you come from a place of abundance.
We can only give that which we have to give. What this means is that when you reach out to someone else you innately understand that you have something to offer. You also understand that this is a situation where you temporarily have more, and the other person temporarily has less. This role will change from time to time and from person to person.
It is also important that you be willing to receive from other people. There is no greater frustration than having a gift that you wish to share and no one to share it with. The gifts that you have to share do not have to be big or huge. It can be as small as a smile or a kind word.
One of the ways of maintaining a positive mental attitude and that healthy sense of well-being in life is to constantly be aware of all the ways in which you can share with others and which they and the universe at large are constantly giving to you in both small and large ways. By counting your blessing you will see the opportunities you have, to give to someone else and become more and more open to the abundance and grace that exists within your own life.
